LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

The Sundays after Pentecost is the longest of the seasons of the Christian Year.  During this time, we celebrate the work of the Spirit of Jesus in the life of the Church.

Beginning with the Second Sunday after Pentecost (June 6, 2010), Pastor Mark will begin a series of messages on the passages from the Book of Psalms of the Revised Common Lectionary called “A Summer with the Psalms.”  (For more information about the Revised Common Lectionary, visit the following page on the Internet:  http://www.commontexts.org/

rcl/index.html.)  These passages speak of the joys and struggles of humanity as well as the sovereignty and majesty of God.

Theme:  God is the helper of all those in need.

August 22, 2010—Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Scripture Lesson:  Psalm 71:1-6

Theme:  The Lord is a refuge during trying times.

August 29, 2010—Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Scripture Lesson:  Psalm 81:1, 10-16

Theme:  God gives blessings to a people who turn to him.
