Pastor Mark Smith

     Mark E. Smith was born and raised in Parkersburg, WV. He is a graduate of Marshall University (Class of 1991) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Class of 1996). He was ordained Deacon in 1995 and later ordained an Elder in Full Connection in 1999. Before coming to St. Paul’s Church, Mark had served churches on the Hodgesville Charge (Buckhannon), Bridgeport, and Lubeck.

He is married to Winnifred (Winnie), and they have three children - Eliza, Louisa, and Owen. He is a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, loves heavy metal music, and pumpkin pie.

 

Rev. Nancy White

     Nancy Henderson White is a West Virginia native, growing up in the Eastern Panhandle of the state. She is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, with degrees in the field of Christian Education. Rev. Nancy is certified in Christian Education and Youth Ministry with The United Methodist Church and is an ordained deacon. She has participated in mission experiences to Russia and Nicaragua as well as Kentucky, Louisiana, and West Virginia.

She finds operating power tools for mission projects very “empowering” and lots of fun, too. Nancy and husband, Roy, live in St. Albans, WV, with their two-year-old son, Liam. Nancy likes to read detective/suspense novels, do crossword puzzles in pen, and loves strawberries.

 

Brenda Tyler


    Brenda Tyler was born on February 9, 1946 and was raised in Cowen, WV.  Brenda graduated from Cowen High School in 1963 and has received several college credits in business and computer classes from West Virginia State College.  She was a stay-at-home mom until March 1982, when she was hired as the Administrative Assistant at St. Paul’s Church. Brenda served eight years on Nitro City Council, with her greatest achievement being the raising of funds for and the overseeing of the building of the Nitro Children’s Park.

Brenda married Keith Tyler on January 3, 1965. They have three adult children, Jeff, Lorrie & Brad, and six grandchildren, Jordan, Daulton, Rachel, Emily, Savannah, and Ava.   She likes all music... especially country and the music of Rod Stewart.

   

Melody Bias

Melody Bias grew up in St. Albans, WV, and graduated from St. Albans High School in 1989.  She continued her education at Alderson-Broaddus College, graduating in 1994 with dual degrees in Music Education and Church Music.  Following her graduation she accepted the position of Choir Director at St. Paul’s in the fall of 1994.  She was employed by Kanawha County Schools in the fall of 1998 and is currently the band director at McKinley Middle School.  Following her marriage in 2002, she resigned her position at St. Paul’s to spend time being a newlywed.  After assisting St. Paul’s with numerous events, Melody returned to her position as Director of Music Ministries in 2006.

 Melody lives in Culloden with her husband Eric, her daughter Erica, and their mini schnauzer, Schroeder.  She enjoys reading, sewing, and exploring the many facets of the digital age.  She can also be found playing piano for local performing groups and accompanying shows with the Charleston Light Opera Guild.

 

Jim Fugate

  Jim Fugate grew up Kentucky, where he graduated from Eastern High School.  He graduated from Morehead State University with a B. S. degree in chemistry.  After working as a chemist, Jim accepted the role as campus minister for Southern Baptist students at Marshall University.  While still serving in that role, he became the Director of Campus Ministry for the Southern Baptist Convention.

Jim and his wife, Susie, have been married for 41 years.  He has three living sons—Jeff, Sean, and Kerry.  One son, Steven, died in 1994.  He has seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.  Jim plays the piano and organ and loves the sound of Big Band music as well as classical music.
